Creatures In My Room is a real stand-out visually -- and at the same time very educational and fun for kids. If you want see that dawning light of curiosity in a child that's just wanting to understand why bedtime can be so scary, there's no better book than this on.
The characters are rendered with great richness and depth (if you look closely), there are hidden objects and more within the illustrations than what intially meets the eye. The illustrations are skillfully done by Debra L. Harrison in that all of the creatures in the main characters room are full personality and encourage more exploration and questions. The rhyming is fun, catchy and amusing for children and adults highlighting the topic about bedtime that can be challenging issue for parents of young children.
The book is well contructed and can take a quite a lot of punishment from little fingers. Obviously a lot of thought and work went into this amusing bedtime story and we should be grateful to Debra. I highly recommend this children's book for all parents who have children with big imaginations at night!

Creatures In My Room is an excellent book. What makes it extraordinary is the creative story of both Debra Harrison as writer and an illustrator.
The story is particularly appealing because it provides some great lessons for children who are fearful of not only their imaginations but of confronting their parents honestly about their fears. Harrison's colorful and detailed illustrations steal the show for what is truly a literary winner.
